Over 1800 Tons of Auto Parts Seized in Mexico City

The Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC) and the Prosecutor's Office of Mexico City (FGJCDMX) seized 1,863 tons of auto parts in a major operation against networks dedicated to the dismantling and illegal sale of vehicle parts. The intervention, named "Operation Hunter," took place from November 12 to 27 in five boroughs of the capital. As part of the Strategy to Combat Vehicle Theft, 20 searches were conducted in properties linked to the dismantling, storage, and illegal sale of auto parts. "All properties were secured and placed under police custody," the authorities detailed. In parallel to the searches, the Administrative Verification Institute (INVEA) carried out ten administrative verifications in commercial establishments to corroborate they had the necessary documentation to operate legally. The authorities emphasized that the actions were carried out "in strict adherence to police and prosecutorial protocols, and with full respect for human rights," in coordination with the Navy Secretariat, the National Defense Secretariat, and the National Guard. All evidence seized "was made available to the Public Ministry for the corresponding investigations," according to the report.
